New Britain – Rabaul

New Britain was painted for the Tapscott family. Glen Tapscott was part of 1300 Australian forces invaded in Rabaul by 22000 Japanese soldiers. Glen fled to the hills after the order was given; “Every man for himself”. He was one of the 300 Australian survivors, but suffered ill health for the rest of his life.
